COVID-19 Update: We are Open

Until further notice, our offices will remain open for existing and new clients during the Coronavirus  crisis. We have procedures in place that will protect our clients and our staff.

We remain operational for all legal matters and have implemented phone and or video  conferencing. Appointments are being scheduled so feel free to call us for your legal needs. This applies to existing and new clients. We have the capability to file all legal matters with the courts and the judges and courthouses remain operational through fax, email, phone and video conferencing. This includes domestic violence matters, other emergent matters such as custody, parenting time issues including Coronavirus issues, and all other routine matters.

NEWTON – The building located at 49 High Street in Newton has been home to several businesses and residences since it was first constructed exactly two centuries ago.

First used as a residential dwelling, it has also housed a millinery, a medical office and, for the past 25 years, a law firm. Now, it has taken on yet another form accompanied by a new name: Courthouse Plaza.

When Mark Gruber looked out an upper-story window of the Sussex County Judicial Center in 1995, he saw an old house with an auction sign, and a figurative lightbulb went on. Wouldn’t it be convenient if he and his law partners could have an office so closely accessible to the courthouse? Gruber purchased the building, and a few renovations later, he and his colleagues cut the ribbon and moved in.

Governor Phil Murphy recently has thrown New Jersey into a multistate suit against the federal government.  New York and their Governor Andrew Cuomo, Governor Dannel Malloy of Connecticut, & Brian Frosh the Attorney General for Maryland are also involved in this lawsuit.  After months of talk, leaders of the Democratic party in these states are now suing the federal government over what they have declared is an unconstitutional provision, the cap for the SALT (state and local tax) deduction.

Justice Anthony M. Kennedy is set to retire. He has been known to be a “swing” vote on numerous controversial issues. Appointed by President Ronald Reagan, Kennedy has earned a reputation as a moderate. This is all thanks to his willingness to join the court’s more liberal-leaning wing in important rulings on gay rights, abortion, affirmative action, and some criminal-justice issues. This track record has led many to see him as a crucial bulwark against the court’s growing ideological polarization. All of this will likely be changing, however.

Dedicated coaches and players take Cougar teams to winning seasons

NEWTON — It was a school night, and the Kittatinny Middle School Girls’ Basketball was playing a game against Ogdensburg, in Ogdensburg. Whenever the refs stopped the clock, several parents in the audience started anxiously checking the time on their phones. You see, there was another game that night over in Sparta and getting their girls something to eat, homework done and to that game on time depended on this game ending soon.

Giving Back to our NJ Community: Giving Bicycles for Children for the Holidays

The law firm of Gruber, Colabella, Thompson, Hiben & Montella decided to celebrate the holidays by giving  back to the local community. In lieu of a traditional holiday party, the firm purchased ten new bicycles for children of various ages who are currently being helped by Ginnie’s House in Newton, an advocacy center for abused children.
